From Local to Global: My Journey as a Non-English Digital Consultant

I never imagined that someone like me, without a fluent command of English or a formal tech degree, could help businesses from Germany, France, Japan, and the USA grow online. But here I am.

This is the story of how I went from running a local stitching and tailoring center to becoming a global digital consultant — without perfect English, but with consistency, honesty, and trust.

🚤 My Local Beginnings

Back in 1985, I began my journey not with code, but with cloth. I started learning Silai (stitching) in a small village setup. There were no computers, no internet — just a desire to support my family and build something of my own.

By 1987, I was running a small Silai Art Center. Women from the community would come, learn, and share. This wasn’t a business; it was a movement of self-reliance.

Fast forward to 2017, my daughter introduced me to something that changed my life: WordPress and Shopify. Within 6 months, I built my first website. I didn’t know English well, but I knew how to design something clear, useful, and impactful.

📊 From Local Threads to Global Traffic

In 2018, we officially started helping international clients. The first was a small business owner in France who needed an SEO-ready website in both French and English.

Since then, we’ve worked with:

  • German engineers launching services in the US

  • Japanese health brands targeting UK markets

  • Non-English speaking entrepreneurs with a vision to grow

Our mission was always clear: Make websites and SEO work for people who don’t speak fluent English.

🧠 Challenges I Faced (and Overcame)

1. Language Barrier

Writing emails or creating English content was not easy. I often feared being judged. But I learned tools like Grammarly, AI drafts, and more.

2. No Case Studies or Portfolio in the Beginning

I didn’t have any big names or testimonials. But I had results. So I shared stories, not stats.

3. No Personal Brand or Face-Value Content

I wasn’t comfortable showing my face or speaking on video. Instead, I focused on delivering honest, quality work and letting my daughter handle client calls in fluent English.

🌟 Inspired by Real Stories: Savji Dholakia & Ruma Devi

I take strength from people like Savji Dholakia, a diamond businessman from Gujarat who built a global empire despite dropping out of school at 13. His focus wasn’t on language, but on vision, values, and people.

Another powerful inspiration is Ruma Devi, a village woman from Rajasthan who turned traditional handicrafts into a global movement. Her work empowered thousands of rural women — with no tech background or English skills.

Real Story of Ruma Devi

Like them, I believed that language should never be a barrier to growth.

🧵 What Helped Me Grow as a Non-English Digital Consultant

✅ Clarity Over Complexity

All my websites and strategies are simple. No jargon. Just value.

✅ Multilingual SEO

I learned how to optimize content in multiple languages, using the right structure, hreflang tags, and local keywords.

✅ LinkedIn for Quiet Builders

Even without videos or daily posts, I used carousels and short posts to share tips and build my voice.

✅ Trust & Consistency

Every international client I served came back or referred others. Not because I was fluent, but because I was consistent.

🚀 5 Takeaways for Founders Like You

  1. Start With What You Know – Even if you don’t speak perfect English, your expertise is valuable.

  2. Use Tools – Grammarly, ChatGPT, or even Google Translate can help bridge gaps.

  3. Focus on Clarity – A clear website with simple words is better than a fancy site with no message.

  4. Show Proof – Case studies are great, but even sharing stories and screenshots builds trust.

  5. Stay Visible – You don’t need to post daily. 1–2 posts a week on LinkedIn can attract global attention.
